John William Waterhouse(1849-1917),Italian
John William Waterhouse (April 6, 1849 February 10, 1917) was a former Raphaelite painter in England. Women who are good at depicting myths are known as "pre modern raphaelites", who boldly draw on the painting techniques of French Impressionism to his works. Waterhouse was born in Rome, Italy. As a child, he took the Italian nickname "Nino". His father was from Yorkshire, England. He was a painter with solid foundation. His mother was Italian. Influenced by his father as a child, Waterhouse has shown his talent in painting for a long time. His relatives and friends all jokingly call him Nino, which is the abbreviation of Italian Renaissance master giovanino. As Waterhouse lived in Italy for eight years in his early years, he was very fond of Greek mythology, and later he used Greek mythology as his painting theme. Waterhouse's late art is becoming more and more vague in the theme and moral, losing the depth of his early years, the expressive force is also greatly weakened, and his art is gradually losing its due luster. In 1883, he married the daughter of a headmaster of an art school and gave birth to two children, both of whom died in childbirth. His wife was also a painter who had exhibited at an exhibition of the Royal Academy of art. In addition to painting, Waterhouse was engaged in art teaching. He was a member of the Council of the Royal Academy of Arts and joined various art associations. Although he intended to be a pre Raphaelite style, his romantic and dreamlike aesthetic paintings showed a special form of self inspiration. His success is not only in the expression of sensory perfection, but also in the expression of self cognition and self world. He died of cancer in 1917.
